Westbury Churchwarden role update

This month it was announced at the meeting of the PCC and at All Saints, that our churchwarden at Westbury, Beth Thomas, will be standing down as from the end of December. This is because she would like to give more time and energy to chairing the steering group for the Parish Hall Transformation Project.

2023 will be an important year for the Hall as it celebrates its 150th anniversary. The project needs to move ahead quickly as the building is sorely in need of renovation. Beth is very well placed to do this, but she cannot do this without letting go of other work. So we have agreed that she will step down from being Churchwarden as from the end of December. We hope to receive the planning permission for the project soon and need to make progress with applying for grants to support our plans in the coming year.

Beth was appointed Churchwarden at the annual meeting in 2019. She took on the role during the vacancy, not an easy time to take on this role. Beth has served faithfully during the two years of the pandemic which was also a challenge. She has been a great support to me at the beginning of my time here as Team Rector and I have really appreciated her hard work, dedication and attention to detail. So, we want to say a big THANK you to Beth for all that she has done in this role. We continue to pray for her in the work on the parish hall.

Beth will continue serving in other ways, eg with publicity, e-newsletter and on the PCC. She is not going anywhere, fortunately. We shall find an opportunity to thank her properly before the end of the year.

In the meantime, if anyone would like to explore the role of Churchwarden, please have a word with either myself or Ruth Hann.

With many thanks

Rebecca Harris
