All Saints’ Parish Hall Redevelopment Programme

We are carrying out a Joint Public Consultation with Leigh Park Community Centre.

We want to hear your views on the facilities available in Westbury and how we can help improve services for all ages of our community. This survey will help us know which facilities are missing or need improving on and help us with our continued project plans for Leigh Park Community Centre (LPCC) and All Saints Parish Hall (ASPH).

This survey is in three parts. Please complete Section 1. You can complete either or both Section 2 and 3 but please read the information about the proposed projects before doing so.

We are holding a networking coffee morning on Thursday 24 March at Leigh Park Community Centre. This will give you an opportunity to find out more about the developments and have your say on how these can support the people of Westbury.

Built in 1873 by All Saints’ Church as the Sunday School Room and subsequently used by Church of England Westbury Junior School and then the Laverton County Infants School. It became the Parish Hall in 1968 when a new modern school was opened on Eden Vale Road.

Since then All Saints’ Parish Hall has acted as a space for parish activities and as a community facility. Regular users include: Rainbow Play School, 1st Westbury Brownies and Guides, the St John’s Ambulance Cadets, Mothers’ Union, and Little Saints’. It is also used for community events and celebrations such as the Church Street Residents Association, Westbury Town Council, and others.

However, after nearly 150 years All Saints’ Parish Hall is no longer fit for purpose and is in urgent need of renovation. The space is not flexible enough for our needs and the layout causes problems. The kitchen is no longer viable and there are maintenance issues.

The Vision

All Saints’ Parish Hall will provide modern and attractive facilities to serve the current and future needs of the congregation of All Saints and be able to show God’s love to the people of Westbury.

Fascinating history

We have a lot of ideas for involving people in the project including some work to find out more about the history of the building and its past as a local school. Perhaps you were a pupil there?

Watch out as our plans develop to find out how you can get involved.

If you’d like to know more about how the Hall develops please leave your email at the end of the questionnaire.

Volunteers needed

We are looking for people within the community with fundraising, project management and experience of working within the community to join our steering group. Please contact Beth Thomas the Churchwarden if you want to find out more.

If you would like to support our plans with a donation you can do this here. This fund will only be spent on the redevelopment project.
