Two new Foundation Governors are needed for Westbury Church of England Junior School.
November 2023 Update – Just one Governor now required!
We have two vacancies for Governors at Westbury Junior School following the end of terms of office of two of our long-standing Foundation Governors.
The role of a Foundation Governor is to support the Christian Foundation of the school; help the school to be distinctively Christian; maintain the teaching of Christianity in Religious Education; and encourage Collective Worship as a regular Christian activity in the school.
Foundation Governors represent the historic link with the original church establishment (the ‘founding’ establishment, hence the term ‘foundation’) of the school. As such, they are the custodians of its distinctive Anglican and Christian ethos. In addition to the role of Governor, Foundation Governors are
there to help preserve the links between the school, church and the Diocese.
To be a Foundation Governor, we are looking for either members of one of our Anglican Churches in the White Horse Team, or people from another Christian tradition who can support the Christian ethos of the school.
Meetings are held about six times a year, plus visits to the school on occasion. We are currently going through a period of transition, and are looking for people with some energy and commitment to the Christian education of our local children. The role of Foundation Governor would be ideal for anyone who has a background in education, finance, business or community work, or anyone who has been a Governor in another school.
I would be happy to talk with anyone who may be interested, and give you further information. Please be in touch with me. I would love to hear from you.
