Revd Holly Newton ordained priest on Saturday 2 July at Salisbury Cathedral
On Saturday 2 July Revd Holly Newton was ordained priest by the new Bishop of Salisbury, the Very Reverend Stephen Lake. Holly was one of 9 people being ordained in a moving ceremony in Salisbury Cathedral. This was the first ordination service without Covid restrictions since 2019. Many friends and family of those being ordained attended. Over twenty church members from Westbury and Dilton Marsh travelled together to support Holly in the congregation.
After the service the congregation gathered in front of the West doors of the Cathedral to congratulate those who had just been ordained. As a priest Holly is now able to take Holy Communion services.
On Sunday 3 July Holly celebrated her first Holy Communion at All Saints’ Church. After the service the congregation celebrated with sparkling wine and cake.
