Westbury Eco Church Update

September 2022

an update from the Westbury Eco-Church group

All Saints and Holy Saviour Churches have just completed the Eco Church survey and we have both qualified for the bronze level certificate! We are very pleased with this achievement.

We have invited the Revd Dr Mike Perry to come and speak at our Climate Sunday service on Sunday 25th September at 10.00 am at Victoria Garden in the corner of All Saints Churchyard (weather permitting). This will be a service of Morning Praise outside, which seems appropriate for the occasion. Please invite friends or families as it will be suitable for all ages. He will present our certificate at this service.

As part of our Eco Church status, we have recently agreed as a PCC to apply for Fairtrade status. This will mean that we commit to serving Fairtrade tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits (if possible) after our services, at our meetings and events, in both churches and in the parish hall.

Please would all those who offer hospitality, bear this in mind when preparing for such event?

We will also be taking part in Fairtrade Fortnight in February/March by holding a coffee morning and promoting Fairtrade products. We will continue to offer Fairtrade Advent calendars and Easter eggs. We are encouraging everyone to consider purchasing Fairtrade products at home. Some are available in the shops now. You can find out more at www.traidcraftshop.co.uk

We now have some recycling facilities in All Saints now. We have one bin for recyclable waste and one for general waste. We also have a bin for pill blister packs and one for thin plastic. Please do use these facilities, or the ones available in town
