Discipleship across the White Horse Team Ministry
As we approach 2022, the White Horse Clergy Team are working together to promote opportunities for individuals and small groups to grow together in faith.
This will take the form of small group studies, small discussion groups, prayer groups and individual prayer support. We will also offer teaching programmes that explore how our faith interacts with the real-life concerns of the communities of which we are a part.
All we offer is open to everyone, however, you must take responsibility for your own commitment. If the course sounds interesting but it is the wrong time or day or venue for you, let us know. It might be that if enough people say something similar we can offer an alternative. We hope to offer opportunities for everyone across a wide range of settings, this may be in people’s homes, in churches, in cafes, or on zoom. Some of these will be more accessible than others. Let us know.
This is a somewhat chronological reading of the bible. A reading scheme will be issued in the newssheets. The plan uses a 5:2 principle so that you read five days of the week and have two ‘off’ however, this allows space to catch up or to swap a day if you need to.
Chat Groups (Life) Groups of 3 – 5 people
These small groups will meet fortnightly in places convenient for you. Those who want to join in with reading the bible in a year will have the chance to discuss what they have read with others who are also exploring the Bible. This can be done in 40 minutes over a coffee, at home, in church, over zoom, at the café, or pub! Please let Caroline know if you are interested.
Pints of View
This is an open, informal gathering of people who meet monthly at The Hollies Inn, Westbury Leigh. They discuss key topics over a meal that have excited or enraged individuals from the newspapers or news on TV. Together we work out whether faith has any part to play in our response and whether or not we are moved to do anything about it!
Advent and Lent Groups
These groups offer the opportunity to meet with others (group size 10-15 people) to explore various themes. We often link in with Westbury Area Churches Together and meet people from Christian churches around the Westbury area. We take time to listen to different points of view and discover the word of God afresh to us at this time. We also learn to pray for one another and to hold each other in Christian love and respect. These may take place in a variety of settings. We will try to have groups running in Dilton Marsh and Westbury at a variety of times.
This series of study guides have been designed to enable those new to faith and those very experienced to examine particular aspects of discipleship. These courses are suitable for all church members plus those who are new to faith and may want to explore baptism or confirmation.
In January 2022 we will be starting the second book – The Lord’s Prayer. This group will be run online via Zoom with different clergy leading the sessions. It is a six week course. See newssheets for joining details (and to order the course book!)
The clergy team take opportunities throughout the week to pray together for the life of the church, for the well-being of parish members, for the healing of the land. Once a month we join with other clergy across the Heytesbury Deanery to pray for each other and for our respective places of ministry. We want to encourage all people to pray individually, with others and corporately. This is part of how we bless our local communities and each other.
You are welcome to join us. And if you are willing, you are invited to read parts and join in with responses, and prayers.

An Away Day for the whole team
We are looking to hold an ‘away day’ for the whole team this includes you!
This will take the form of a led quiet day, if you haven’t been to one of these before it is an opportunity to set some time aside to actively listen to God, to seek God through his Word, silence, the company of others and a shared meal together, and we do this together in community.
Individual or small group Quiet Days
We are exceedingly pleased to support John Prince and his involvement with the Quiet Gardens movement. John regularly opens his garden, and there are others you might visit a short distance away. These quiet days may be led i.e. someone to guide you in reading a Bible passage and reflection, it may involve some silence, reflection and/or prayer. Please keep an eye on the notice boards and the newssheets.
White Horse Team Services
We are planning to hold three Team Services during 2022.
We know that many people miss these, and there are many who do not for a variety of reasons.
This year we are trying something a little bit different starting with a Celebration 20 years of the White Horse Team Ministry. Bishop Andrew will be coming to help us celebrate and to reflect on the many good things that being part of a team brings to us all.
