We’ve now held two of our three art workshops in our Saints’ Alive! programme.
Over 30 people have participated in our Ceramics and Art Workshops this summer so far.
Jo Taylor an educator and ceramic artist led our first Saints’ Alive! Workshop on 21 July. The church provided welcome coolness on a sweltering hot day. Taking the church as their inspiration the participants created a pinch pot or tile and decorated it with glaze.
You can see their work here.
On 3 August Marie Hillcoat led our second Saints’ Alive! workshop. The group began by creating a collage together based on the words ‘All Saints Church Westbury’.
With their creative juices flowing the participants spent an hour or so sketching parts of the church which caught their attention using the sketch book provided as part of the session. Each person spent an hour absorbed in their work. Many commented that it was very calming to spend time in a quiet space focusing their attention on their sketch.
We hope that they will be back to fill up their sketch books now that the Church is open every day!
Our last Saints’ Alive! session is a creative writing workshop on 24 August led by Matthew Tett. There are still spaces available and these can be booked here.
These workshops are funded by Wiltshire Council with a Community Area Grant. They aim to welcome new people into our church and offer them hospitality and a warm welcome.
The feedback from the first two sessions has been overwhelmingly positive. After the conclusion of the series we can think about where we might go next.
