Advent and Christmas in the White Horse Team

Christmas 2020 is going to look very different…

This year, because of the Covid-19 restrictions, we are having to think creatively about our Christmas services. We are very sorry that we shall be unable to have any large-scale events because of the limits in numbers in our church buildings. We are therefore planning the following, but this is provisional for the time being, until we can be sure of what we can do at the end of the current lockdown at the beginning of December.

Reflective Carol Services at All Saints
Sunday 13 and Wednesday 23 December

We are hoping to have two identical carol services this year at All Saints. We have been able to accommodate Westbury Choral Society for their rehearsals at All Saints this autumn and some of the members have agreed to join All Saints choir and sing some of our well-known carols at a more reflective service this year.

People will be invited to book their places in advance at these services, and we would ask that you choose to attend one service only. This is so that we can accommodate as many people as would like to come. Arrangements for this will be announced. All the usual safety precautions will be in place. Households will be able to sit together if they book together. We shall have Christmas music, readings and prayers and reflect on the meaning of Christmas for us this year.

Big Zoom Nativity Christmas Service
Sunday 20 December at 10.00 am

Sharon Jones will be leading this service for all ages on Zoom. Come dressed as your favourite nativity character and join in the fun online!

Mulled wine and carols
Sunday 20 December

This will take place on Zoom at 6.00 pm. Bring your own favourite Christmas drink and enjoy singing Christmas carols to your heart’s content!

Recorded Midnight Service
Christmas Eve

We have thought about this very carefully and after much consideration, we have decided to offer a joint Team Midnight service which will be recorded in advance from our different churches, including members from our different communities. This will be a service of Holy Communion with carols and readings for Christmas. I’m sure it will be a moving and special occasion. It will be released on YouTube on the evening of Christmas Eve so that you will be able to join in from the comfort of your own home, with your family/members of your household. This will also mean that our church cleaners will not have to stay up till the early hours of Christmas morning, cleaning our church buildings to make them ready for services on Christmas morning.

Christmas Day

Each of our churches will have a service of Holy Communion on Christmas morning.

We hope that our programme of worship will help us all to celebrate the true meaning of Jesus’ birth this year, while keeping everyone safe. We look forward to seeing you!
