We welcomed Melanie to Westbury in October 2017. We are very pleased that she is joining the White Horse Team. We’ll let Melanie introduce herself…
Hello! My name is Melanie Otto and I am very excited to be joining you as Curate. I was ordained Deacon in Salisbury Cathedral in June 2016 and served the first part of my training in the Bradford Deanery. That has now ended and I am transferring across to the White Horse Team to complete my curacy.
Coming with me will be my husband Andrew, who is a Science Lecturer at Wiltshire College, and we have three sons, one daughter in law and a cat!
I did my training part time at Sarum College whilst working full time as a Pastoral Officer at St Augustine’s Catholic College in Trowbridge. I loved studying theology and learning about what it means to be a Christian in the 21st century, and the challenge we all face of making our faith relevant to those around us. These challenges are something, I hope, we can explore further together.
In my spare time I like reading, walking, going to the cinema and spending time with my family and friends. I also like gardening and playing my guitar, although I am still very much learning and developing my skills!
Please pray for us over the coming months as I initially commute from Bradford, and then as we settle into life in Westbury. We are looking forward to getting to know you and being part of your family as we all journey on together with God in this beautiful part of Wiltshire.
God bless, Melanie.
